The "Billiard Atlas" books contain many systems......here is an example of one......the system below, was donated from one of the top players in the country......here, a 3-cushion bank is attempted, and the solution is simple and this used to be a closely guarded secret.
1st step: Imagine the cue ball path for this 3-rail shot...the 1st rail hit point is estimated at 10*....2nd step: stand behind 10* and estimate where the "side" of the cue ball must hit the 2nd rail, and 3.1 was selected.....3rd step: extending a line from the cue ball to *10 , finds that the cue ball origin point is diamond "C".....4th step: note that diamond "C" is 3 diamonds away from point "X".....multiply this 3 x 3.1, or 9.3.....aim for 9.3
Note:......If the cue ball path originated through point "B", then the side of the cue ball hit point would have been estimated at 3.5..... Point "B" is 2 diamonds away from point "X", so 2 x 3.5 = 7.0......aim for 7.0
Note: ......stroke is very important, use dead ball english, and a follow thru stroke, level cue and "roll the ball softly", with a short bridge.
The pool example below has to do with the 9-ball game...... in this example, the ball you must hit is hung in the side pocket.....if you miss, a ball-in-hand situation arises.....this is solved exactly the same way as shown above. This simple system solves numerous problems, too many to mention.
